Lvov in Ukraine) and was raised in Vienna with traditional Jewish moral
values and schooling. He then travelled to Mecca and elsewhere in the
Middle East, and officially transformed once more in Cairo on 27
April 1927.Footnote 49 Leopold Weiss turned Muhammed Asad, after
which he travelled round Central Asia, Afghanistan, and Turkestan.Footnote
50 He lived an interesting life on the intersection of Europe, the Middle East, and South Asia; the crossroads of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam; and the convergence of trendy journalism, orientalism and scholarship in Islamic research.
